Mariana Graca is a sustainability professional with over 12+ years experience in impact investing across Africa.
Mariana has experience in origination, deal execution, business development and portfolio management in a Sub-Saharan African context, in both East and West Africa. In her 7 years at AgDevCo, she helped to build the company into a leading pan-African agri-impact investor with USD 200m AUM operating in 9 African countries deploying both debt and equity. As Investment Manager she led origination of deals, DD and deployment of capital into a range of value chains across different jurisdictions from cocoa in Ghana, oil palm in Ivory Coast to maize in Mozambique amongst others. Mariana also assisted the company in key capital raising for growth.
Mariana currently supports Ninety-One (formerly Investec Asset Management) as their Investment Specialist - Sustainability and Impact. This includes her work managing all impact activities relating to investment debt portfolio of USD 1.15b for Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF) - an impact fund that mobilises capital from public and private sources to be invested across the African continent into infrastructure projects in energy generation, digital communications, transport and logistics, water treatment and supply, affordable housing amongst other sectors.
Mariana is the founder of MG Advisory Ltd, providing consultancy services to impact investors, DFIs, philanthropic family offices and startups operating in Africa with a focus on agriculture, agtech and impact investing. Clients included: KfW, Rockefeller Foundation, Small Foundation, DFID/UK AID, AGRA, IDH FarmFit, Wefarm, Innovate UK, Stewart Investors etc
Mariana has a MSc in International Relations from London School of Economics, holds advanced qualifications in investment appraisal and corporate finance by the London School of Business and Finance and has obtained the CFA ESG Investing and the CFA Climate and Investing (CCI).
